If the Republican tax legislation designed to win certain areas in America, it would be a place like Ohio Congressman 12 richest counties to the State, which includes conservative suburbs of Columbus.
Median household income in the District 12 Ohio is more than $90.000, more than 40 percent of residents have a college degree, and the Republican party has held the seat since the 1980 's. A representative of the District of booking, Pat Tiberi, who left in the middle of his term to take a lucrative job lobbying business, was one of the architects of the Republican tax bill — laws that give sweeping tax breaks to corporations and wealthy Americans.
But on Tuesday, the special election to fill the seat of Tiberi's proved to be a surprise. Democrat Danny O'Connor voting in some points from Troy Balderson Republic in a race that starts to look a lot like the Republican election losses of earlier this year.
And Republicans, who have insisted on talking about the booming economy will save them in the 2018 midterms, it seems that has left touting their tax cuts at all. Instead they are turning to Trump playbook: don't talk about the tax bill, and stoke the culture wars.
Over the weekend, President Donald Trump confused for Balderson on a rally in the district, warning of a country run by Democrats with "crime all over the place. You will have people that flow across the border, "says Trump. Ads Pro-Balderson was screened from economy to attack O'Connor as dishonest " " and Danny's "dangerous Danny " — a liberal Nancy Pelosi-love that Trump will block border wall.
Only months away midterm general election 2018, a special election in Ohio 12 serves as another test of the Republican message strategy. It is becoming increasingly evident that the primary legislative accomplishment they-a one-year tax-cutting-doesn't seem to be enough to win the election. And Tuesday may prove that the culture war against Liberals is unlikely enough, either.
