One in five adults in the United States will experience mental illness in a given, according to the national alliance on Mental illness. That means more than 43 million people who can or can't find help.
On Thursday, community leaders, residents and health professionals will gather for the 4th annual El Paso behavioural health consortium Summit.
This event is sponsored by the Health Foundation, Paso del Norte.
"It is really an attempt to draw in the community where You have a diverse way of thinking, the solution to address mental and emotional well-being," said Hernández in Eden, the Director of change and empower with the Paso Del Norte centre of the Mental and emotional well-being at UTEP.
The purpose of this meeting is to improve health behaviour in a system with sharing that will lead to action that is accurate and coordinated data.
"Some of the needs we have identified, including looking for ways that we can work together to bring in funds and began to find a way to make the program sustainable for El Pasoans," Hernandez said.
There will be panel discussions and video presentations.
Summit speaker is Adrienne Kennedy, President of the Board of the national alliance on Mental illness (NAMI).
Kennedy is a long-time educator, researcher and administrator who has experienced mental health problems.
He is also a Commissioner on the Judicial Commission of Texas on Mental Health, appointed for a term of three years in the year 2018 April by the Texas Supreme Court and Texas court of criminal appeal.
We learn more about brain science, the brain and how it is integrated into all aspects of personal health, "said Kennedy.
Kennedy will talk about the importance of having a network that can be accessed by a variety of institutions to help those who need addiction services and mental health.
The SUMMIT will take place Thursday Haskins centre the Don from 8 is to noon.
