Jermaine Pennant had lifted the lid that night that Craig Bellamy hit John Arne Riise with a golf club during the Liverpool training camp.
The Reds are in a hot-weather training camp in Portugal ahead of the 16-year Champions League final against Barcelona in 2007, when the squad was shocked by Bellamy entering Riise's room and hitting him with seven iron when he was in bed.
Manager Rafael Benitez condemned the incident at the time, although the two players ironically scored in a 2-1 victory for the Reds at the Nou Camp on their way to the final in Athens.
Writing in Mental: Bad Behavior, Ugly Truth and Beautiful Game's recent autobiography, Pennant said the line began at karaoke, with Bellamy refusing to take part.

"Riise has spread it," he said. "Go, Seller, go up there." Riise gets more than a little liquor, 'Ah, you go home, Craig, you are on your way, you should be a tough guy.'
"We all drink our beer, think, 'Oh-oh! Oh-oh!'
Pennant reminded how later, when he was in the injury room with Peter Crouch, his team mate Steve Finnan ran in, telling them that Bellamy "just hit Riise with seven iron".
He says Bellamy goes to Riise's room and attacks him on the bed.
Pennant said: "He began to say, 'This is just a joke, Craig, I didn't mean, I swear, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!' The seller shouted at him, "Say again, say."
"Riise said no - and then the Bellers just started hitting him, he hit him a few times, he raised his leg, so he took it especially on his thigh." Sorry, I'm sorry! scream. "
Bellamy was later famous for the golf club when he scored Liverpool's equalizer in the first 16 at the Camp Nou, with Riise scoring the winning goal.
And Pennant said that the Reds did everything they could to keep the incident calm.
"In the training the next day the problem was raised in the training field before the session began," he wrote. "Rafa (Benitez) said," Whatever happens, we keep it at home, you know.
